The Aspen Choral Society will be holding rehearsals for “The Passion” at 6 p.m. each Monday and Wednesday in Glenwood Springs at the Methodist Church (824 Cooper Ave.). Seventh-degree black belt and martial arts teacher Brian Mable will lead an intensive women’s self-defense class from 7-9 p.m. Feb. 23 and 25 at the Glenwood Springs Community Center. Parents of Glenwood Springs High School freshmen and sophomores are invited to attend a meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24 at the GSHS multipurpose room. Counselors will address GSHS graduation requirements and course selection based on students’ plans after high school.

Susy Ellison, a teacher at Yampah Mountain High School, recently spent two and a half months in Antarctica as part of a National Science Foundation program called “Teachers Experiencing Antarctica and the Arctic.” She will present a slide show and talk on her experiences at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, at the Gordon Cooper Library in Carbondale.
