Christmas trees can be dropped off for recycling in Glenwood Springs until Monday, Jan. 12, at the southeast corner of the Glenwood Springs Mall parking lot, at True Value and at the Glenwood Springs Roping Arena, west of the airport. Trees can also be brought to a collection site at Carbondale’s Town Hall west parking lot.
The High Country 4-Wheelers meets the first Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m. at the New Castle Super Bowl. New members are welcome at the meeting and to join trail rides. ATV enthusiasts are also welcome.
Colorado Department of Transportation crews will be reducing traffic on Aspen’s Maroon Creek bridge to a single lane between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., through Thursday, Jan. 18, as crews are repairing the footing of the bridge.

The Roaring Fork Biodiesel Co-op (RFBC) will be having an informational meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday., Jan 8, in the Solar Energy International classroom, located at 76 S. 2nd St. in Carbondale. Literacy Outreach volunteers are needed to help teach basic literacy skills two hours per week to adults. The Carbondale Recreation Department will hold a self-defense class for women ages 17 and up from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 22, at the Carbondale Town Hall. The cost is $25. Preregistration is required at the Carbondale Recreation Department.
The 2004 Frontier Historical Society calendars are available at the museum bookstore, the Book Train and at Through the Looking Glass bookstore. The Basalt Regional Heritage Society (BRHS) is offering a collectors’ series of ornaments depicting Basalt’s historical properties; this year’s features Arbaney Barn.
