California 21-year-old arrested in Battlement Mesa stabbing attack

Staff Report

A California man was arrested early Sunday in Battlement Mesa after allegedly stabbing a boy in the stomach during an argument, according to the Garfield County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies were called at 2:45 a.m. Sunday to a home on West Carson Circle. Three witnesses in the home reported that Daniel Scott Williams, 21, of Bakersfield, Calif., was arguing with the boy when the stabbing occurred.

Deputies arrested Williams on suspicion of first degree assault and lodged him in the Garfield County Jail.

The boy suffered a two-inch stab wound in his abdomen. He was taken to Clagett Memorial Hospital for treatment, according to sheriff’s spokesman Ron VanMeter.

The suspect allegedly used a Kabar brand fixed-blade knife in the stabbing.
