Two Rivers Drug Enforcement Team officers arrested three people Tuesday for what they say was a Carbondale cocaine distribution ring. The arrests brought a one-year TRIDENT investigation to a conclusion, according to a news release.James Louis Trujillo, 57; Elaine Robin Thayer, 42; and Raymond Bourg, 50, all of Carbondale, were arrested on various charges related to the distribution of cocaine and other drugs. Between Sept. 19, 2003 and Tuesday, TRIDENT conducted numerous undercover operations at three restaurants and bars and one residence. The undercover operations resulted in a total of seven separate purchases of suspected cocaine, according to the news release. The undercover operations began at a local bar where an undercover officer first met Raymond Bourg and Elaine Thayer. The undercover officer reported purchasing “user quantity” amounts of suspected cocaine from Raymond Bourg on two different occasions while at the establishment. On two other occasions, the undercover officer purchased small quantity amounts of suspected cocaine from Elaine Thayer while at her residence.On Sept. 10, TRIDENT conducted another undercover operation at Thayer’s residence. During that operation the undercover officer met Thayer’s roommate, Trujillo. “The officer asked James Trujillo for a 14 ounce of cocaine. James Trujillo agreed to the deal, but stated he would have to go get it,” the news release said. TRIDENT officers reported following Trujillo from the residence to a local bar and back to the residence. When he returned to the residence, he sold a quarter-ounce of cocaine to the undercover officer. On Sept. 30, 2004, the undercover officer met with James Trujillo at a bar in the Carbondale area. During the meet, James Trujillo and the undercover officer began negotiations for a large quantity deal of cocaine. Also, during the meet, the undercover officer purchased 1.4 grams of suspected cocaine from James Trujillo.On November 23rd, 2004, TRIDENT conducted an undercover operation at Thayer and Trujillo’s residence. During the undercover operation the undercover officer purchased 7.4 ounces of suspected cocaine from James Trujillo. TRIDENT officers then arrested James Trujillo while inside the residence. Elaine Thayer was also in the residence and was arrested on the warrant. During a consensual search of the residence TRIDENT officers found the $8,500 given to James Trujillo in exchange for the 7.4 ounces of suspected cocaine, 0.3 grams of suspected cocaine and 0.3 grams of suspected MDMA, also known as ecstasy. Trujillo was arrested on three counts each of distribution of a schedule 2 controlled substance, possession of a schedule 2 controlled substance (cocaine) with intent to distribute; possession of a schedule 2 controlled substance (cocaine); three counts of conspiracy to distribute; 1 count each of possession of a schedule 1 controlled substance (ecstasy) and possession of less than one gram of a schedule 2 controlled substance (cocaine).Thayer was arrested on two counts each of distribution of a schedule 2 controlled substance (cocaine); possession of a schedule 2 controlled substance (cocaine) with intent to distribute; conspiracy to distribute and possession of a schedule 2 controlled substance (cocaine). Bourg was arrested on two counts each of distribution of a schedule 2 controlled substance (cocaine); possession of a schedule 2 controlled substance (cocaine) with intent to distribute; possession of a schedule 2 controlled substance (cocaine) and one count of conspiracy to distribute a schedule 2.
