Carbondale downtown improvements begin April 1

Work on Carbondale’s Downtown Streetscape project will begin on April 1. First area for construction is the 300 block of Main Street; the block will be closed for about two weeks due to demolition of the sidewalks and presence of construction equipment. The block may reopen at times during construction, but only if it is safe for pedestrians.

All businesses will remain accessible by pedestrians during this time. The contractor, Gould Construction, will have people stationed at each end of the block to assure that pedestrians arrive safely at their destinations.

There is public parking behind Town Hall and at the southeast corner of Colorado and Fourth Street.

Downtown Streetscape construction will last approximately eight weeks. The town will supply updates as the construction proceeds. If you have any questions, please contact Mark Chain or Janet Buck at Town Hall, at 963-2733.
