Carbondale Elementary gets clean slate
The Roaring Fork School District received word this month from the Colorado Department of Education that the Carbondale Elementary School’s corrective action status has been erased. RFSD Assistant Superintendent Judy Haptonstall said the CDE decision was in response to a district request that Carbondale Elementary be removed from corrective action because of the school’s changing makeup beginning this fall. The change in status comes as the school becomes Crystal River Elementary School West Campus, and prepares for a 2006-07 school year, when the former CES will move from offering second to fifth grades to a combined preschool through fourth grade at the CRES East Campus.Haptonstall said she received confirmation last week from the CDE that the former CES will have no Adequate Yearly Progress history beginning this fall, and will not be under academic watch according to federal No Child Left Behind regulations.
