Carbondale leads Garfield County’s real estate transactions in both numbers, dollars for 2008

As the months went on in 2008, the trend continued that Carbondale continued to have the highest level of activity with regard to real estate transactions.

For the year, Garfield County reported 1,560 total property transactions. Of those 1,560, Carbondale reported 379, representing 24 percent of the total available.

The areas that followed were Rifle, which captured 314 total transactions for 20 percent of the total, and Glenwood Springs with 281 (18 percent of the total). Behind Glenwood came New Castle with 247 transactions (16 percent), Silt with 122 (7.8 percent), Parachute with 116 (7.4 percent), and Battlement with 73 (4.7 percent).

With respect to dollars, Carbondale also took the lead for 2008 reporting $208 million, approximately 29 percent of the county’s dollar total of $723,167,700. Rifle and Glenwood Springs followed with $172 million (23.8 percent) and $134 million (18.5 percent), respectively. Rounding out the area were New Castle, $92.8 million (12.8 percent), Parachute, $47.4 million (6.6 percent), Silt, $40.5 million (5.6 percent) and Battlement Mesa, $15.9 million (2.2 percent).
