Carbondale resident Garrow nominated for CU Regent race

Jessica Garrow of Carbondale received the Democratic nomination to run for the University of Colorado Board of Regents in Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District during the Democratic Party state assembly held April 13 in Pueblo.

“I have had many opportunities in my life because of my CU education, and I don’t want the opportunities for a good job or an improved quality of life to be lost on future Coloradans simply because college was not affordable,” Garrow said.

Garrow, 30, is a third-generation Coloradan. She earned her bachelor’s degree from CU and a master’s degree from Ohio State University.

Garrow said as regent, she would focus on improving access to high-quality higher education and ensuring CU has a continued presence on the Western Slope. She supports a four-year tuition cost guarantee for in-state students, and the ASSET bill, which would grant in-state tuition to Colorado high school graduates who are the children of undocumented immigrants.
