Carbondale robbery, assault investigated

CARBONDALE, Colorado – Police here are investigating a report of a mid-day robbery at a Main Street business Tuesday in which the store owner was found in the bathroom with her hands and feet bound.

According to a Carbondale Police Department press release, officers were called to the Deportes Jenny store at 569 Main St. just before noon Tuesday on a report of a burglary in progress.

“Officers found the owner of the store in the bathroom with hands and feet bound,” according to the release.

The owner was reportedly taken to Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs to be treated and was later released.

The suspects reportedly got away with an undisclosed amount of cash and merchandise, according to the release. Police were given a brief description of the suspects as being dark-skinned Latino males, approximately 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighing approximately 180 pounds.

The case remains under investigation, Carbondale Police Chief Gene Schilling said.

Anyone who was in the area around the time of the reported incident and saw anyone matching the description of the suspects or anyone acting suspicious is asked to call the Carbondale Police Department at 963-2662.
