Carolyn Louise Herz

Carolyn Louise Herz, 66, of Glenwood Springs, passed away March 9, 2008.

Carolyn was born Oct. 7, 1941, in Chahlis, Wash., to Norman and Loa (McNay) Marsh. She grew up in San Bernadino, Calif., and graduated from LaVerne College in LaVerne, Calif., with a degree in education.

She married Thomas Voorhies in 1959, and they had two children. They moved to Aspen in 1969.

She met and married John L. Herz in 1986, and they lived in the Roaring Fork Valley together with their daughter until her death.

Carolyn loved the mountains and was an accomplished musician, playing the cello and piano and being a member of the Symphony in the Valley. She was also very active in her church, ministering in several different areas of the church including the hospital ministry, choir, and nursery care.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Carolyn is survived by her husband John; son Scott B. (Kelly) Voorhies of Kamuela, Hawaii; daughters Dr. Janice L. (Ronald) Raab of Free Union, Va., and Katherine L. Herz of Glenwood Springs; brother Thomas (Agnes) Marsh of Lexington Ky.; and granddaughter Natalie Raab.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 17, at the New Creation Church, 44761 Highway 6, New Castle.

The family asks that memorials be made to a charity of your choice.

Farnum Holt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
