CDOT replacing expansion joints on I-70

Starting on April 17, the Colorado Department of Transportation and contractor G.A. Western will replace bridge expansion joints on westbound Interstate 70 in Glenwood Canyon. The work will take place on westbound lanes only, between mile markers 121.5 and 119, west of Hanging Lake Tunnel. The project will continue through June 15. Only one westbound lane will be closed at any time throughout the project’s duration. The lane closure will be in place 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, due to the complexity of the work. There will also be a 14-foot width restriction on westbound lanes, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, until the work is complete. The speed limit through the work zone will be reduced from 50 miles per hour to 40 mph for worker and traffic safety. As always, CDOT greatly appreciates motorists’ patience and safe driving during this brief maintenance project.
