Charles R. Kness

Charles R. Kness died March 21, 2008, at his home in Grand Junction.

He was born Aug. 24, 1936, in Johnstown. Chuck spent most of his early life in Climax and Leadville.

Chuck served in the 10th Mountain Division of the Army from 1955-57.



He was married to Ruby Bennett and had four children.

He married Rhea Delorme in 1981. They lived in Leadville and Rifle before retiring to Grand Junction.



He enjoyed several hobbies, including hunting, fishing, woodworking, classic cars, photography and a general enjoyment of outdoor activities.

He is survived by his second wife; sons Rick (Barb) and Doug; daughters Karen (Errol) Cruz and Patti (Gary) Frey; step-daughters Margaret (Danny) Pacheco, Cindy (Tony) Svatos and Pam (Gary Link) Atencio; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; brother Jim of Loveland; and sister Betty Jean of Allentown, Pa.

A visitation was held March 24 at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary. A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, also at the mortuary. Cremation will follow the funeral.
