Charles Richard “Dick” Haas, 71, died at home April 29, 2006, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Dick was born Sept. 17, 1934, in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. He moved to Colorado with his family in 1971 and to the Glenwood Springs area in 1984. He established his metal roofing company, Standing Seam Concepts, in Glenwood Springs.He was a man of varied tastes. In addition to his work and the perpetual remodeling of his house in Canyon Creek, he enjoyed whitewater canoeing, classical music, camping and living close to nature.Dick is survived by his longtime partner, Priscilla “Chris” Ketz; children Lisa Haas and her partner Kem Coots, Doug (Carolyn) Haas, David (Nancy) Haas and Kelly Haas; brothers John and Jim Haas; and seven grandchildren.Dick was preceded in death by a sister, Sally Robitaille.There are no services planned, and cremation has taken place. Donations in his memory may be made to Alpine Hospice, 1316 Grand Ave., Suite B, Glenwood Springs, CO 81601.Farnum-Holt Funeral Home, 405 W. Seventh St., Glenwood Springs, has been entrusted with the final arrangements.
