Chicago’s famed Second City returns to Roaring Fork Valley

The weekend may be a precursor to the most romantic day of the year, but there is still room for a kiss of laughter.The Carbondale Council on the Arts & Humanities presents the Second City Touring Company improvisational comedy group at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Roaring Fork High School auditorium.Second City, a springboard for comedy’s best and brightest whose alumni includes Jim Belushi, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, John Candy, Chris Farley, Mike Myers and Gilda Radner, performs sketches and songs with audience participation. The group’s satirical appearance is part of its 45th anniversary tour that celebrates its founding in Chicago in the late ’50s. Second City is famous for cutting-edge improv, where no topic or subject matter is off-limits.Tickets are $15 for CCAH members or $20 for nonmembers and are available at Sounds Easy Video in Carbondale, 963-1303, or at CCAH, 645 Main St., 963-1680.
