Messiah Lutheran services

Aspen Chapel minister speaks to Unitarians



For this Sunday’s service at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Glenwood Springs, Rev. Ron James, adjunct minister at the Aspen Chapel, has titled his sermon, “Here and There: The Story of Two Worlds.” Of the sermon he writes, “It is looking at the purely rational approach to truth as incomplete and inadequate, and therefore distorting to `reality,’ requiring us to look at other `genres’ of experience. I will be laying out the deficiencies and dangers of a purely rational approach and suggesting that the cosmos has mysteries that the rational has obscured.”

The children’s program is titled, “It’s a Small World: We believe in working for a peaceful, fair, and free world,” featuring a story about Samantha Smith.

The congregation meets at the Glenwood Springs Community Center. Coffee hour at 9:30 a.m., followed by the service at 10. For information, call Jan or Pat at 928-8721.

A Spiritual Center

Seventh-day Adventist services

Seventh-day Adventist Sabbath services are held on Saturday at the following times and places. At 2314 Blake Ave. Glenwood Springs: 9:30 a.m. Sabbath School, 11 a.m. worship service. Prayer meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays. For information call 945-7630.

At 0086 Village Drive, Rifle (South of I-70. Take 7th St. west one mile): Sabbath school at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. worship service. Prayer meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday. For information, call 625-1215.

Church at Redstone

Sunday services at the Church at Redstone are 9 a.m. Sunday School and 10 a.m. worship. For more information, call Pastor Bruce A. Gledhill, 963-4976.

Church of the Nazarene services

The Church of the Nazarene in Glenwood Springs holds Sunday School at 9:30 a.m. Sundays. The worship service is at 10:45 a.m.

Grace Tabernacle has services

Grace Tabernacle of Rifle, 2128 Railroad Ave., Ste. 002, invites you to worship at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday. For information, call 970-274-0703.

Marble Church services held

The Marble Community Church holds services each Sunday at 10 a.m. Services for Sunday, Nov. 17, will be led by Linda Arocha-Boylan. Betsy Macuen will be the organist. This Sunday is Communion Sunday. Sunday, Dec. 8, right after the service, will be the dedication and open house for the new fellowship hall.

Presbyterians meet

The First Presbyterian Church of Glenwood Springs worship service is at 10 a.m. each Sunday. Coffee and refreshments are served following the service. An adult study group meets at 9 a.m. Sunday. For more information, call 945-7331.

United Methodist services

Sunday services at the Basalt Community United Methodist Church are 9:30 a.m. at 200 E. Homestead Ave. in Basalt and 7 p.m. at 24593 Fryingpan Rd. in Thomasville.
