Yard Sale
St. Mary of the Crown Catholic Church in Carbondale will hold its annual yard sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at the church, 0481 County Rd. 100.
Valley Havurah
Shabbat Shalom. The Torah portion this week is Parashat Bemidbar, M’varkhim Ha-Hodesh, Numbers 1:1-4:20. The Haftarah Mahar Hodesh is I Samuel 20:18-42. Candle lighting is at 8:11 p.m. Friday, May 30, and Shabbat ends tomorrow, Saturday, May 31, at 9:19 p.m.

Adult bible forum
The Congregational Church of the Valley has an Adult Biblical Forum every Sunday at 9:30 a.m. The forum is currently studying a parable of the “Tenants of the Vineyard,” Mark 12. The traditional church service and Sunday school follows at 10:30. The church is located at 6th and Home Streets in Silt, 876-2648. Everyone is welcome.

Beginning June 1, the Glenwood Mennonite Church will meet for worship outdoors, weather permitting, at 9:30 a.m. An informal yet reverent worship experience that is spiritually nourishing. Services include opportunity for participation and discussion. The theme for summer is “agreeing and disagreeing in love.” For information call Lauren Martin, 945-5245.
vacation bible school
The New Hope Church of New Castle presents “SonHarvest County Fair,” a five-day summer ministry for kindergartners through sixth grade, ages 5 to 12, from 6:30-9 p.m. June 9-13 at Apple Tree Park. The theme is “Growing the fruit of the spirit.” The place will be decorated like a farm with games, crafts, songs, snacks and Bible stories. UU services
In celebration of the Ralph Waldo Emerson Bicentennial, Rev. Dr. Sandra Gillogly Lee has titled her sermon “Where’s Waldo?” This great American philosopher, essayist and thinker began his career as a Unitarian minister. Rev. Lee has served congregations in the Pacific Northwest and Colorado, and is a native of Oklahoma, a former research chemist, and a jeweler.
Special music will be provided by pianist Raine Girardot. During the summer months, the congregation meets at 10 a.m. at the Glenwood Springs Community Center on the 1st and 3rd Sundays, and child care is provided during adult services. For information, call Jan or Pat at 928-8721.
Songs of Praise

Crystal River Baptist church will host Songs of Praise, a ladies singing group, at 7 p.m. Friday, May 30. Traveling with the group is Dr. Pete Cowling, who will bring a Bible message after the group has blessed our hearts with soul stirring song. Dr. Cowling has 35 years of college teaching and has been a Sunday school teacher and bus captain for 36 years. A nursery will be provided free of charge. First Baptist services
