Sunday, July 20, the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Glenwood Springs will welcome Scott Chaplin, executive director of the Stepstone Center who will acquaint us with the mission of Stepstone, a non-profit community organizing center based in Carbondale. Bishop to visit
Right Reverend William. J. (Jerry) Winterrowd, 9th Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Colorado, will preach, baptize, and celebrate Holy Eucharist at 10 a.m. Sunday, July 20, at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Blake Ave. and Hyland Park Drive (just east of Sayre Park), Glenwood Springs. Bishop Winterrowd has served the Diocese of Colorado for 12 years and will retire at the end of this year. The people of St. Barnabas invite members of the community to join them for worship and to greet Bishop Winterrowd and his wife, Ann. The worship service is at 10 a.m. There will be no 8 a.m. service of Holy Eucharist this week.
family fun night
Trinity Baptist Church will host a night of family fun from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, July 19, at Sopris Elementary School parking lot. There’ll be game booths, prizes, bouncers, a climbing wall, a petting zoo, pony rides, food and best of all, it’s free! Kids age 5 to 11 are invited to an intergalactic space journey never to be forgotten. We’ll join four wacky penguins and journey through the Bible to discover how to let God change our hearts so we can be more like Jesus.
