Baptist services

The Glenwood Springs Baptist Church holds regular worship service at 10:45 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Sundays. Sunday school begins at 10 a.m. Corporate prayer and Bible study are at 7 p.m. Wednesdays. Information: Pastor Justin M. Hall, 947-0084.


Methodist Church

Carbondale Community United Methodist Church, 385 S. Second St., holds its Sunday worship service at 10 a.m. All are welcome to join. The Rev. Fred Amborn III is the minister; he can be reached at 963-0439.

New Hope Church

New Hope Church meets at 9:30 a.m. Sundays in the auditorium of Riverside Middle School in New Castle. The ministry office is at 303 W. Main St. Information: Pastor Eddie or Pastor Thom, 984-2656.

Tri-Community Catholic Parishes

The Tri-Community Catholic Parishes of Rifle, Parachute and Silt gather to celebrate Mass every weekend on the following schedule: St. Mary’s, 761 Birch Ave., Rifle, 8 and 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Misa in Espanol at noon; St. Brendan Parish, Parachute, 4:30 p.m. Saturday; Sacred Heart Parish, Silt, 7 p.m. Saturday. All are welcome to attend.

Congregational Church of the Valley

The Congregational Church of the Valley, Sixth and Home in Silt, meets at 10:30 a.m. every Sunday for worship service and children’s Sunday School. An adult Bible forum for inquiring minds will be at 9:30 a.m. each Sunday. Information: 625-4320.

Holy Cross

Lutheran Church

Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 62 County Road 135, Glenwood Springs, holds Sunday services at 9 a.m., led by Pastor Joseph Cockey. Information: 945-6871.

Mountain View Church

Mountain View Church invites you to join the church for Sunday school and worship. During the summer Sunday School for all ages is at 8:45 a.m., and worship service is at 10 a.m. Child care for infants to age 4 is provided for both Sunday School and worship, and there is a special program during the worship service for kids age 4 through third grade. Mountain View is 1.5 miles south of Glenwood Springs on Highway 82 next to Buffalo Valley Restaurant. Information: 945-8328, or


Universalist services

There will be no services Sunday, Aug. 8. On Aug. 15, Ed Troyer will speak on “Exploring the Science and Mystery of Seeing and Perceiving.”

During the summer, Unitarian Universalist church services take place only on the first and third Sundays of each month, usually at 10 a.m. at the Glenwood Springs Community Center, but occasionally outdoors elsewhere.

Unitarian Universalism does not have a required creed, but UUs have many strong beliefs in common, as well as strong individual beliefs. All are welcome to contribute to the discussion.

The Glenwood Church of Christ holds Sunday Bible classes at 9 a.m. and worship services at 10 a.m. A new Wednesday class is at 7 p.m. The youth group meets at 9 a.m. Sunday and at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Worship Center

First Presbyterian Church

The public is invited each Sunday to an uplifting service at First Presbyterian Church, 1016 Cooper Ave., Glenwood Springs. Communion, open to all, is celebrated at First Presbyterian the first Sunday of every month. Worship service is at 10 a.m.; a nursery is available for young children. All are welcome to join church members afterward for fellowship time. In addition, a lively adult Sunday school class meets at 9 a.m. Sundays for Bible discussion and coffee. Grace Church of the Roaring

Fork Valley services

United Methodist

A Spiritual Center

Marble Church services

Buddhist philosophy taught

Christ Community Church

Christ Community Church meets at 10 a.m Sundays. The message is contemporary and relevant to modern life. First United

Methodist Church

The summer Sunday schedule at First United Methodist Church, Ninth and Cooper Avenue, runs through Sept. 5. The schedule is as follows: 8:30 a.m. worship in chapel, 9:30 a.m. fellowship time in front of church, 10 a.m. worship service in Bethel Chapel and Adult Sunday school in Fellowship Hall.

Child care for kids 5 and younger is available at the 10 a.m. service.

Sonlight Foursquare Gospel Church

Sonlight Foursquare Gospel Church’s vacation bible school “Not of this World” will be held from 6-8 p.m. Aug. 9-13. All children ages 4 through 11 are welcome to join at 0355 County Road 132 (Mitchell Creek Road), Glenwood Springs.

Sonlight Foursquare Gospel Church meets every Sunday morning at the Glenwood Springs Middle School in West Glenwood for of fellowship with one another and in God’s word. You are invited to join the church for Sunday School at 10 a.m. and worship service at 11 a.m.
