SILT, Colo. Two “heroic citizens” saved a Denver man’s life after his sports-utility vehicle rolled over on Interstate 70 on Sunday morning, according to the Colorado State Patrol. At 7:16 a.m., Eric Bivens, 27, was driving a 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac on I-70 just west of Silt. The vehicle drifted off of the left side of the roadway and into the median. He struck a delineator post and re-entered the roadway, skidding out of control. He skidded across both lanes and off the right shoulder of the westbound lanes. After leaving the roadway, the Ford rolled 334 times, partially ejecting Bivens, the CSP said.”Two heroic citizens were able to push Bivens’ truck back onto its wheels and off of his head, likely saving his life,” a CSP news release says.Bivens was transported to Grand River Hospital where he is currently being treated for head injuries. Although his injuries are serious, Bivens was wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash. This kept him from being totally ejected. The CSP said the two citizens who assisted left the scene before anyone got their names. The CSP would like to recognize the two individuals for their life-saving actions. They are encouraged to call the Glenwood Springs CSP office at 945-6198.Post Independent, Glenwood Springs Colorado CO
