In the Dec. 1 edition of the Post Independent, an article failed to make it clear that county oil and gas liaison Judy Jordan was referring to gas-drilling wells, not water wells, in remarks about rumored detection of “rotten egg” smells in western Garfield County.

Jordan explained further that the cause of such orders often is hydrogen sulfide, which the Occupation Safety and Health Administration terms “a colorless, flammable, extremely hazardous gas,” and which can be associated with natural gas drilling activities.
