CMC offers three-credit Grand Canyon trip

During CMC’s Grand Canyon Experience three-credit class, hikers will see it from both rims and climb from one side of the canyon to the other.The trip is led by geology professor Garry Zabel and instructor/geologist Sylvia White, a duo who has a combined experience of 12 visits exploring and guiding newcomers to this part of the country.The trip will run from Sept. 23 through Oct. 2 and costs $390 plus tuition. The price includes all transportation, entrance fees to the parks, backcountry campground and backcountry use fees, and all food except five days of backpacking food. A series of three mandatory pre-trip classes, beginning Sept. 1, will be held at CMC’s Glenwood Center. In addition, all students are required to attend a local hike on Sept. 3, 4 or 10 – to be decided at first class meeting.Call CMC’s Garry Zabel at 947-8263 or 945-8278 for more information.
