Carrie Besnette Hauser, president of Colorado Mountain College, has been named a board member of American Rivers, a national conservation nonprofit.

Hauser is known as an outdoorswoman as she’s climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and to the Mount Everest base camp. The Glenwood Springs resident also worked multiple summers in the Grand Canyon for Hatch River Expeditions and held the title of “swamper.”

She’s held many other executive leadership positions, including at the Kauffman Foundation, Metropolitan State University of Denver and the Daniels Fund.

CMC’s region includes many rivers, creeks and streams, and the school offers programs including sustainable studies and outdoor leadership.

Hauser is joined by two other new board members: David Solomon, CEO of Lazard’s Middle Market Advisory Group, and Jimmy Kimmel, host and producer of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”
