NEW CASTLE, Colorado ” Coal Ridge High School’s choir students perform tonight and Monday night to raise funds for competitions and other expenses.

The varsity choir and concert choir will perform a Broadway review musical theater show called “100 Years of Broadway.” The performances are at the new Riverside Middle School.

Tonight is an open dress rehearsal that starts at 7 p.m. Voluntary donations are encouraged.

“It’s not a perfect, all-put-together performance yet,” said Katie Schmidt, director of choral activities for Coal Ridge and Riverside. “It is an open dress rehearsal, and we’re trying to get as many people to come as possible.”

On Monday, the doors open at 6 p.m. for a pasta dinner, drink and desert, and the performance will start at 7 p.m. The cost is $15 each, $40 for a family of four, and $10 each for teachers and students.

Schmidt said the choir program is trying to raise funds mainly to pay for students to travel and compete but also to cover other expenses.

“We’re looking to just raise a lot of money so we can go and compete many different places,” Schmidt said.
