Coal Ridge fourth at Cedaredge Invitational

CEDAREDGE – Coal Ridge’s track and field team took home top-four finishes from Friday’s Cedaredge Invitational.

The Titans were fourth in both the boys and girls standings.

Leading the way for the girls was Chelyn McCain, who won both the 200-yard dash (28.26 seconds) and the 300 hurdles (48.56).

McCain also helped the Titans to wins in the 4×400 relay (4:19.28) and the 800 sprint medley relay (1:55.29).

Kayla Hinkley, Kathleen Maldonado and Rachel Becker joined McCain on the 4×400 group, while Lyndee Zelenka, Maldonado, Becker and McCain made up the 800 sprint medley foursome.

Maldonado also posted a top-three finish in individual action, grabbing third in the 100 (13.66). Erika Anderson took second in the high jump (4 feet, 6 inches).

Eliel Ruiz led the Coal Ridge boys with a win in the 800 (2:02.7).

Colby Fauser took second in the 400 (52.44) and third in the 100 (11.57). Brandon Schlegel notched a silver finish in the long jump (19-0) and Geovany Sabillon nabbed third in the 3,200 (11:40.43).

The Titans also recorded second-place finishes in the 4×800 relay (9:07.4) and the 800 sprint medley (1:39.95).
