Coal Ridge girls cruise, boys fall

PEACH VALLEY, Colorado – Coal Ridge High School’s Lady Titans led from start to finish against Gunnison to come away with a 50-36 win in 3A Western Slope League action Friday night.

Coal Ridge (6-7 overall, 5-5 league) was led in scoring by Paige Ryan, who had 12 points. Gunnison’s Jordan Wallin led all scorers with 18. The Gunnison girls remain winless on the season, at 0-10 overall and 0-7 in the league.

Meanwhile, the Coal Ridge boys fell to the visiting Gunnison Cowboys, 52-38.

Senior Alec Herrera had 12 points on the night for the Titans, while Gunnison had three players in double figures: Ted Curry, 13; Alex Schliegman, 11; and Matt Howard, 10.

Coal Ridge drops to 2-11 overall and 2-8 in the 3A WSL with the loss. Next up for both the Coal Ridge boys and girls is a trip to Aspen next Friday.
