Post Independent staff report
Glenwood Springs, CO Colorado

VAIL, Colorado – Vail Mountain on Friday did what no other girls soccer team has done this season: The Gore Rangers defeated Coal Ridge.

Scoring a goal apiece in the first and second halves, Vail Mountain held off the visiting Titans, 2-1, in the teams’ regular-season finale.

Coal Ridge’s only goal, by Brianna Rhodes and assisted by Rebecca Mitchell, came in the second half.

The Titans, who clinched the 3A Western Slope League title with a 2-1 win over the same Vail Mountain squad on Thursday, will learn their playoff fate when the Colorado High School Activities Association’s soccer seeding committee meets Sunday to draw up playoff brackets.

Coal Ridge enters the postseason with a 12-1-2 overall record. Vail Mountain, also bound for the playoffs, ended its regular season with an overall mark of 8-6-1.
