Coal Ridge wrestlers top Meeker in dual

Post Independent staff report
Glenwood Springs, CO Colorado

Coal Ridge’s wrestling team made a triumphant return from its winter break, scoring a road win at Meeker on Thursday.

In a dual that featured numerous forfeits, the Titans topped the Cowboys, 46-30.

Tucker Schultz wrestled to a win by technical fall at 119 pounds and Michael Shaw pulled off a first-period pin at 135 pounds to lead the way for Coal Ridge, which returns to action at Saturday’s Eagle Valley Invitational.

“I think it’ll be a really good showing for us,” Titans coach Mike Mikalakis said. “A lot of the kids from our region will be there. … We’ll see some tough opponents, but it’ll be a good gauge for what we need to focus on and work on for the next couple weeks.”
