College student’s arrest involves death of a newborn baby

PARKER, Colo. (AP) ” Investigators recovered the possible remains of a newborn during a search at Western State College in Gunnison and were trying to determine Wednesday how the baby died.

Addie Kubisiak, 18, faces charges of first-degree murder, child abuse resulting in death, and concealing death, Douglas County sheriff’s officials said in a statement.

She’s due in court Thursday.

A preliminary investigation indicates the baby was born in a vehicle as it traveled through Douglas County, investigators said.

Kubisiak was arrested earlier this week in Parker, her hometown, and was being held in the Douglas County jail. Her family had no listed phone number and it was unclear whether she had hired an attorney.
