Colloidal silver worked
Dear Humorous Herbalist: About two months ago, I was suffering from a sore throat that would not go away. There were no other symptoms. It was not strep. I assumed it was simply allergies or sinus drainage as it subsided during the day.
However, this awful sore throat was waking me after four or five hours of sleep with incredible pain. Hot herbal tea was wonderful and relieved it temporarily but it was no substitute for a good night’s rest. I had a prescription for amoxicillian and finished it (9 day supply 500 mg. t.i.d.) but the extreme soreness remained.
I was miserable and then I read your column on colloidal silver and its value for infections. I bought a bottle that had 30 parts per million of colloidal silver and took one tablespoon a day until I got relief. It worked in a couple of days! I was shocked. I really didn’t think it would work as I have tried other alternative medicines without relief.
Two weeks ago I got the weirdest thing in my nose! It looked like a mouth ulcer inside my left nostril. It was swollen and I was camping out for the weekend. I was putting Neosporin on it with no relief whatsoever. It was very painful! When I returned, I went to the health food store and bought the colloidal silver nose spray. It worked! I also took the 30 ppm silver internally, at the same one tablespoon for two days. I used the nose spray as directed for a week with noticeable improvements the very first day! – Terri
Dear Terri: Glad to know you found colloidal silver to be your ally. Remember, only use colloidal silver when you need it. Contrary to what some alternative health publications, colloidal silver is not meant as a daily preventative against infection.
The low dose (30 parts per million) proves that you don’t have to overdo on silver to see results. (Some users believe you have to ingest as high as 500 ppm doses to kill infections).
For readers out there who are intrigued by your success story, let me add that it’s a good idea to gargle with the silver (diluted in water) before swallowing it. This allows the silver solution to coat your tonsils and begin its infection-fighting journey at the root of the problem.
Other options for battling a sore throat include gargling with cayenne pepper (one pinch of cayenne powder in four ounces of water). Cayenne will cut the pain on contact and speed the healing of the delicate tissue.
Another sore throat/dry cough remedy that has always worked for me is adding two tablespoons of liquid chlorophyll to one quart of water. Gargle with this green liquid for at least 30 seconds before swallowing. If you can consume one quart a day of chlorophyll water, you should see some improvement within a day or two.
