Colorado population at 4.86 million
COLORADO SPRINGS ” Colorado’s population is estimated at 4.86 million after growing by an estimated 261 new people per day from July 2006 to July 1, according to U.S. Census Bureau figures released Thursday.
The latest estimate puts the state’s growth at 13 percent since the last official count in 2000. Of the estimated 95,267 new people in the state, 51,819 are people who have moved here. The increase includes an estimated 18,381 people who moved here from other countries.
Not far behind are babies. An estimated 43,446 more people were born than died in Colorado during the year.
Colorado’s 2 percent growth rate this year ranks the state eighth ” tied with Wyoming ” in the fast growing states in the nation.
