Colvin kicks off mountains worth of free music, movies at Snowmass
SNOWMASS Snowmass is making its mark on the Colorado concert scene by offering affordable music to the masses this summer.Massive Music & Movies kicks off this weekend with free concerts by top national acts followed by favorite classic movies.On Friday, Smokin Joe Kelly takes the stage at 6 p.m. to warm up the crowds for blues and jazz legend Charlie Musselwhite, who plays at 7:30 p.m. The movie Animal House will follow.Saturday night features R&B singer-songwriter Eric Lindell at 6 p.m., followed by top female singer-songwriter Shawn Colvin at 7:30 p.m. The Sound of Music concludes the first Massive Music & Movies.In August, two additional Massive Music & Movie weekends take place Aug. 4-6 and Aug. 25-27 and offer such acts as the Psychedelic Furs, the Derek Trucks Band, and the Funk Brothers in concert at no cost.All performances are rain or shine on Fanny Hill in Snowmass Village. Music starts nightly at 6 p.m., followed by the movie at dusk.
