The fall session of Financial Peace University will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 20, from 6 – 8 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church Hall in Rifle. There will be 13 weekly classes, including lessons that have many down to earth financial issues. Everyone can benefit from this program from the young adults just starting out on their own to the retired seniors. There will be an information video shown in the church hall at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 4, and anyone interested can sign up for the classes at that time. Youths interested in becoming an excellent, well rounded dancer can join the dance companies at the Glenwood Springs Center for the Arts.

Auditions to join the companies take place at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, at the Glenwood Springs Center for the Arts, 601 E. Sixth St., Glenwood Springs.

Dancers ages 8- 18 can audition to be in the junior company or senior company depending on age and skill level.

Students must be intermediate or advanced level with strengths in ballet, modern and jazz. If students need improvement in any of these forms of dance, they are still encouraged to audition.

Dancers are requested to bring ballet attire and shoes, as well as jazz shoes. The audition will run for one hour.

Mark Udall’s West Slope regional office in Grand Junction is accepting internship applications from undergraduate students and recent graduates for the fall semester. The internship program offers students the opportunity for public service and to learn hands-on about constituent services and the legislative process.

Interns will assist state staff as they help constituents resolve issues with federal agencies like the Department of Veterans Affairs, meet with local partners, represent the senator at community outreach events, and draft writing projects such as letters of support for grant applications and congressional inquiries to federal agencies.

The deadline to apply is Sept. 9; finalists will be notified of a decision by Sept. 20. Interested students can apply at Internships are available on either a full-time or part-time basis. This is an unpaid position, although college credit may be arranged through Colorado Mesa University or other schools.
