WingNutz Bar and Grill is again providing Christmas Ham Dinner packages this year for families in the Rifle area. The dinners will be delivered on Christmas Eve. If you or someone you know would benefit from this dinner this holiday season, please contact WingNutz Bar and Grill at (970) 625-9300 between 9-11 a.m. Sign up deadline is Monday, Dec. 19. Dinners are limited and available on a first-call, first-serve basis. Delivery will be available, if needed, in the Rifle area.
This year, Mountain Valley is collecting books and cash donations to give to the children of families served by the Children and Families Services Department.
We are seeking books for children up to 3 years old. Gently used books or older books for siblings would be appreciated as well. Cash donations would be used to purchase any books needed for additional children/families who don’t have enough, or to provide gift cards for some of the needier families served.
If you would like to donate, please bring your donations by Mountain Valley Developmental Services (700 Mount Sopris Drive) and give them to Janet Jesse in the front office by Friday, Dec. 16, or arrangement scan be made for pickup.
Local citizens are being asked to donate winter wear to help the clients of LIFT-UP, Catholic Charities, Roaring Fork Family Resource Centers, the Family Visitor Programs and other local nonprofit agencies in the valley through Christmas.
The Defiance Thrift Store is the new main collection center for donated winter coats, hats, gloves, and boots at their new location at 2412 S. Glen (next to Domino’s Pizza) in Glenwood Springs, Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., or by special appointment. Donations are tax-deductible for individuals and businesses.
Other donation boxes will be set up soon at Valley View Hospital and Alpine Banks in Glenwood and Carbondale.
Those needing winter-coat vouchers please register at a participating agency first. Vouchers are redeemable at the Defiance Thrift Store. For more information about vouchers call Catholic Charities at 384-2060.
