All six branches of the Garfield County Libraries will be closed Monday, Oct. 1, for a staff training day. Normal library hours will resume at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 2. You can still browse and request books, movies and more on our website,, during the closure. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Senior Mobile Dental will be at the Eagle County Community Center in El Jebel from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1-2:30 p.m. Oct. 3. The nonprofit organization brings dental hygiene services to seniors and focuses on promoting oral health and preventing diseases that result from poor oral hygiene and lack of care.

Patients will receive a professional cleaning and will have access to a variety of oral screenings such as dental decay, oral cancer or suspicious lesions, gingivitis, periodontitis, dental infection and ill-fitting dentures. Professional consultations and referrals will also be provided. The cost of the program is $85. Financial assistance and scholarships may be available. Patients can learn more while scheduling appointments.

Roaring Fork Conservancy invites all photographers to enter the 2012 Roaring Fork Watershed Photography Competition. Photos must include rivers, streams or water in the Roaring Fork Watershed, either directly or indirectly. There is an amateur category and professional photographer’s divisions. This area includes the Fryingpan, Crystal and Roaring Fork rivers, as well as their tributaries.

The Colors of Colorado Quilt Show sponsored by Roaring Fork Quilt Guild will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5; from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6; and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, at the Ramada Inn in Glenwood Springs. Featured quilter is Patt Jones. There will be a silent auction and vendors. Auction proceeds will be donated to Search and Rescue. Admission is $3.
