Thrills, chills and a good dose of tummy twisters will be in abundance at the 2011 Strawberry Days Carnival, sponsored by the Glenwood Springs Mall and Western Slope Communications. The carnival takes places at the Glenwood Springs Mall parking lot June 16-19. Unlimited ride one-day passes are available at a discount in advance for $20 from May 16 through June 15 during regular business hours at the Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association, located at 1102 Grand Ave. The deadline for purchasing the discount passes is 4 p.m. on June 15. Unlimited ride one-day passes will be available at the carnival for $30, and individual tickets will be sold for $1 each. Rifle Community Garden plots available for third year Garden plots, 8-feet-by-20-feet, for available for $40, including the 2011 Rifle Community Garden plot and membership in the Bookcliffs Council on the Arts and Humanities. Additional plots are $20 pending availability. Meeting space, water and compost are provided by BCAH. Former gardners have first choice of plots. UPDATE 5:27 p.m. — Interstate 70 through Glenwood Canyon has reopened in both directions Saturday evening after a safety closure due to a flash flood warning. There were no reported mud/debris slides.
