Garfield Clean Energy is conducting a survey and wants local residents and business owners to participate. The survey is designed to help GCE develop effective financing tools to make energy improvements and renewable energy more affordable to area homeowners and businesses.

Feedback from local residents and business owners is valuable and will be used to improve future financing programs. Participants in this survey will be entered in a lottery for a chance to win a free energy audit and six compact fluorescent lightbulbs.

To access the survey, please visit http://www.garfieldcleanenergy.org/survey.html. To be entered in the lottery, please complete the contact information at the end of the survey.

If you have any questions relating to the survey, please contact Clean Energy Economy for the Region (CLEER) at 704-9200.

The Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association is partnering with EverGreen Events, a Carbondale-based Zero Waste and green event services company, to help reduce waste and increase recycling at this year’s Strawberry Days Festival. Alyssa and David Reindel, the founders of EverGreen Events, have more than 16 combined years of experience working for award-winning nonprofit and government recycling and environmental organizations.

With thousands of people attending Strawberry Days throughout the weekend, discards accumulate quickly. This year the chamber is taking a proactive approach to making Strawberry Days a more sustainable event.

The ultimate goal is to make Strawberry Days a “Zero Waste” event in future years, but for 2011, the chamber is working with EverGreen and volunteers to collect recyclables from the public, compostables from vendors and to educate people about sorting their discards properly.

Strawberry Days takes place June 17, 18 and 19 at Sayre (Strawberry) Park. For more information about the festival, visit http://www.strawberrydaysfestival.com or contact the Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association at (970) 945-6589.

Volunteers are needed to form a combined honor Guard. Members of the honor guard would not need to be a member of any existing veteran’s service organization; you would need to be a United States Veteran or an immediate family member of a Veteran.
