“NARNIA!” a musical play performance adapted from C.S. Lewis’ book “The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe” will be presented by the students of The Garden Schools of New Castle and Carbondale. This 12th annual Garden School production is a sure delight for the whole family. Join us on a magical journey to the land of Narnia just on the other side of the Wardrobe where Aslan and the creatures of Narnia along with the Kings and Queens of Adam battle with the White Witch and her cruel army for the redemption of their land and its inhabitants.Come meet High King Peter, King Edmund, Queen Susan and Queen Lucy and all their subjects in “NARNIA!” on Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010 at 2 p.m. Glenwood Springs High School, Jeanie Miller Theatre, 1521 Blake Ave, Glenwood Springs, CO. On Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, the White River Forest Alliance is hosting “wilderness Defined,” an Environmental Open Forum at Dos Gringos in Carbondale beginning at 7 p.m. Anyone who enjoys the beauty of and the recreation in our mountain community is invited to attend. Input from all user groups is encouraged including: mountain bikers, hikers, snowmobilers, dirt bikers, ATV riders, hunters, fishermen, backcountry skiers, 4W drivers, ranchers and land owners. Learn about working together as a community to preserve our wilderness. Discuss cross-stewardship, tolerance and protocols among user groups on our public wild lands. Sopris Elementary School invites all its students and families to attend Family Literacy & Fun Night on Thursday, Feb. 25. A free spaghetti dinner will be served from 5 – 6:15 p.m. followed by workshops designed to promote literacy through math, science, art and more! There will also be a book exchange from 5 – 6 p.m. It’s a wonderful opportunity for the whole family to have fun and learn at the same time! Students who bring an adult are eligible to win a snowboard or 2 day passes to the Glenwood Caverns!
Bookcliff, Mount Sopris & South Side Conservation Districts are hosting a workshop on Feb. 27 at the Glenwood Springs Community for small acreage landowners that are interested in backyard farming and sustainability. This workshop will address: tree care and pruning fruit trees, challenges and opportunities in gardening, forest management, biological control, grazing management for horses, cattle selection and sheep guard dog management.
