Glenwood Springs High School’s Mock Trial Program would like to invite the community to a Mock Trial scrimmage between Team No. 1 and Team No. 3 on Saturday, March 6, at 1 p.m. at the Garfield County Court House (East Entrance). The teams are preparing for the Mock Trial State Competition in Colorado Springs the weekend of March 12. The Glenwood Springs Mock Trial Program would like to thank their supporters and provide an opportunity for the community to experience a trial firsthand. If you know someone in the program come watch them prepare. If you have a child who may want to do this, bring them to see how it works.

The Mount Sopris Historical Society annual meeting will be held from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, at the River Valley Ranch Barn.All are invited. Call 963-9371 for more information.

“Cooking for 1 or 2” will be presented by Cathy Johnson RD at 1 p.m. Monday, March 8, at the Rifle Senior Center at 50 Ute Ave. Blood pressure will be taken before the program at 12:30 p.m. Admission is free. For more information, contact Debby Sutherland at 945-9191, ext. 3084.

Free Easter egg hunt for toddlers to fifth-graders on Saturday, April 3, at 9 a.m. at the New Creation Church, 44761 Highway 6 west of Glenwood Springs. Petting zoo, music, face painting, candy, prizes, drawings and more than 5,000 hidden eggs.

US Coast Guard Auxiliary Safe Boating Classes, March 1 -13. Friday from 6-9 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fee is $40 for one and $20 for additional participants. Age 14 or older. Contact Gail at (907) 243-3879 or Jim at (970) 261-9000.

Alpine Singles is reorganizing and planning a meet and greet at the Hotel Colorado in the next few weeks. This is a nonprofit group for single people ranging from about 35-65 in Garfield County. On March 5 from 6-10 p.m. the Carbondale Clay Center will host a “Pairings” event.This will pair the artist-made cup with the Colorado-made beverage. 54 artists provide cups for purchase. 14 sponsors provide beverages to taste – rum, wine, brandy, beer, mead, gin, vodka and more.
