Join the talented downtown outdoor sculpture artists at the 2 Rivers Art Project Artist reception May 28 at 6 p.m. at the Glenwood Springs Center for the Arts, 601 E. Sixth St. Glenwood Springs (In front of Yampah Spa and Vapor Caves). If you enjoy outdoor sculpture and wish to mingle with the talented local, national and international artists who have participated in downtown beautification, join us this Friday. The reception is free to the public. Appetizers and complimentary wine will be served.
American Legion Garfield County Post 83 of Glenwood Springs will be holding its annual Memorial Day Celebration on Monday, May 31, at 11 a.m. at the Rosebud Cemetery. There will be a raising and lowering of the U.S. Flag by Scout Troop 225, a laying of wreaths by auxiliary members, a rifle “Salute to the Dead” by legion members, and music tributes from local singers and trumpet players.In preparation of Memorial Day, there will be more than 500 U.S. flags posted at the individual veterans grave sites. Even with the assistance from some scouts from Troop 225 and some members of the Noon Rotarians, the American Legion is always appreciative of any additional support from the community.If interested in helping honor our fallen veterans, you may meet at the brick building in Rosebud Cemetery at 4 p.m. Friday, May 28. All six branches of the Garfield County Libraries will be closed Monday, May 31, in observance of the Memorial Day holiday. The libraries will resume normal hours Tuesday, June 1, at 10 a.m. You can still browse and request books, movies, and more on our website, http://www.garfieldlibraries.org, during the closure. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
The Rifle United Methodist-Presbyterian Church, 200 E. Fourth St., Rifle, is having a yard sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, June 11, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 12.
