The next discussion in the series Roaring Fork Caf Scientifique will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 5, at 6:30 p.m. at Dos Gringos, 588 Highway 133 in Carbondale. The series is held every other month and is free and open to the public. The October speaker will be Dr. Altman who will lead the discussion “Sexual Function in the 21st Century … What has changed and what’s ahead?” Roaring Fork Caf Scientifique was created to encourage civic engagement and intellectual discussion on science, which started in England a few years ago and was based on the French Caf Philosophique. The Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association and Pinnacol Assurance present “Slips, Trips and Falls” on Tuesday, Oct. 5, from 8-9 a.m. at the Glenwood Springs Community Center . Registration begins at 7:45 a.m. The seminar will be conducted by Mark Shanklin, Pinnacol Safety Consultant. The presentation will focus on: Identifying areas that could pose a slip trip and fall hazard; ways to avoid slips trips and falls and work practices; and engineering controls to reduce slips, trips and falls.The cost of the seminar is $25 for chamber members and $35 for the general public. Attendance counts towards annual Pinnacol Workers’ Comp seminar requirements. Pinnacol is the official workers’ compensation carrier of the Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association.
