The 19th annual West Care Ambulance Pig Roast will be held from 4-9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at Veterans Park in Silt.Participants may enjoy specially prepared Hawaiian style pulled pork dinner immediately followed by an auction to support West Care Ambulance. The schedule for the Fall 2008 session at the Glenwood Springs Center for the Arts is available, and the Center for the Arts is accepting early registrations beginning Monday, Aug. 25.The official registration day is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27. The printed fall schedule should be ready for pickup.Those registering in person between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Aug. 27 will receive a discounted tuition, and those paying full tuition upfront receive a discount. These discounts cannot be combined. There are no discounts on membership dues or class fees.



This spring, the city of Rifle passed an ordinance adopting a Workforce Housing Pilot Program. Under this program, a qualified applicant receives certain fee waivers for building residential housing targeting families earning 115 percent or less of the household Area median income for Garfield County. The Garfield County Housing Authority will administer the city of Rifles Pilot Workforce Housing Program. All units developed under this program must be owner-occupied by an eligible purchaser. All units in this program are deed restricted for 10 years with an annual appreciation cap. Purchasers of Workforce Housing Units must comply with the citys ordinance. Deadline for returning applications is 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29.Lottery will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8.

The Basalt Union High School reunion will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 30, at the current Basalt High School. All students, graduates and staff of classes of 1935-99 are invited.
