Boy Scout Troop 225 and the Elks Lodge 2286 will hold a flag-burning ceremony today at 7 p.m. at the Glenwood Springs Lodge at 51939 Highway 6 & 24. The public is welcome to attend this patriotic ceremony where American flags are retired.

New Creation Church is presenting Grammy-winning Christian music group Casting Crown at the Garfield County Fairgrounds in Rifle today. The Christian music group has won four platinum albums, along with gold, and has sold 4 million albums with eight No. 1 hits. They have been No. 2 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door. Tickets may be purchased at http://www.newcreationchurch.org/tickets. The concert is being sponsored by Fleisher Land & Homes, Valley Transportation, Brad’s Electrical Service Inc. and KLOVE.
The Spiro Lyon Glass Studio, located at 17283 Highway 82 (on the frontage road between Catherine Store and Blue Lake), hosts a free hot glass casting demonstration from 5-8 p.m. tonight.Watch as 2,300-degree Fahrenheit molten glass is cast into table tops, sculptures and spinning bowls.The studio’s Tuesday night demos are open to the public.
