Officers of the Rifle Elks Lodge #2195 will host a fundraising breakfast from 9-11 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, at the lodge, 501 W. Fifth St., Rifle.The cost is $5 per plate. All proceeds will go toward the lodge’s building fund.The menu will include pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, juice and milk. Call Jo at 625-0635 for more information.
The Carbondale Rodeo Club and Senior Matters present the Last Days of Summer & Bareback Bonanza on Sunday, Sept. 20, at the Carbondale rodeo grounds.The Bareback Bonanza will feature rodeo events, live entertainment with Anita Witt, barbecued meat from local ranchers and a live auction featuring a 10-year-old quarter horse mare. Rodeo registration and barbecue begin at 2 p.m. Live entertainment is at 2:30, and the Bareback Bonanza is at 3:30. The horse auction will start at 4:15 p.m.
The Roaring Fork chapter of the Colorado Archaeological Society will meet on Monday, Sept. 21, 7 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 1016 Cooper Avenue. The public is invited to attend. The program (outside) will be member Larry Scarbrough demonstrating primitive methods for fire starting. For information on club activities, call Cynthia at 524-7981.
Local author Wewer Keohane, Ph.D. will be conducting a dream workshop at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at the Silt Branch Library. Dr. Keohane will be discussing ideas from her book “Artful Dreaming: A Primer for Finding Inspiration from Your Dreams” including ways to work with your dreams and capture creativity. Her book states “through dream work you will grow into an authentic person, writer and artist, and learn individual and group processes which will enhance your life and your creativity.” Dr. Keohane has lectured internationally, and will present an interactive talk and book signing at the library. The White River Trail Runners ATV club is will have its monthly meeting on Thursday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. at the Garfield County Fairgrounds. All interested are welcome to attend.For more information contact club president David Hillbrand at (970) 948-9326.
There will be a chili cook-off at the Missouri Heights School Friday, Sept. 25. at 6 p.m. We will also have Tom Paxton to call square dances.
