It’s not to late to submit your application for “Thrillz 2010.” All media accepted in this exciting exhibit at the Glenwood Springs Center for the Arts. “Thrillz” runs from Jan. 8 though Feb. 7. Artwork is to be based around personal thrills in this nonjuried show – we want to know what thrills you. Accepting artist applications until Dec. 18. The Glenwood Springs Elks Lodge is proud to once again sponsor the Americanism Essay Contest. This contest is for students enrolled in the fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth grade at the time of the contest. The subject of this years contest is “The American Dream: What Is It?” Essays are not to exceed 250 words. Last year we had two local winners whose essays made it to the state level. The local winners are also invited to read their essay at the Elks Lodge Flag Day Celebration in Centennial Park downtown Glenwood Springs. The prizes are given in the form of U.S. Savings Bonds to the children that make it into the state and national finals. Flyers and entry forms for the contest have been delivered to local schools, and the final submission date is Jan. 10, 2010.
