Cop assailant gets four-year sentence

GLENWOOD SPRINGS ” A man who punched a police officer in the face after an altercation in a bar was sentenced Thursday to four years in prison.

Ricardo Argueta, 34, was found guilty of second-degree assault on a peace officer and criminal trespass after a two-day jury trial in December.

According to the 9th Judicial District Attorney’s office, Argueta was forced out of a Glenwood Springs bar Dec. 22, 2006, for being intoxicated. He attempted to re-enter several times and punched the doorman and a customer. Argueta then punched a responding Glenwood Springs police officer in the face before being arrested.
