On the morning of Nov. 7, Silt police were contacted by the staff at Clagett Hospital in Rifle and were told that a resident had been assaulted by her boyfriend sometime during the previous evening. The responding Silt officer contacted the 40-year-old female victim and noted that she had sustained severe injuries to her face, head and torso.

She reported that an allegedly intoxicated Larry Dale Beck, 46, locked her in the bathroom at their Silt residence and beat her for an extended period of time late Wednesday night. According to the report, Beck also allegedly tried to drown the woman by pushing her face into the toilet. She reported that she was able to get in touch with a friend the following morning who came and took her to the hospital. The victim later underwent surgery on broken bones in her face.

Beck was subsequently arrested and charged with felony assault, felony menacing, and false imprisonment. He was held without bond in the Garfield County Jail until a judge could review the case and issue a temporary restraining order barring him from further contact with the victim.
