Editor’s note: The following information comes from official police and sheriff’s department incident reports. Arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.

Feb. 21: Jail window ” Deputies answered a report of someone breaking a window at the Garfield County Jail. Arthur Joseph Myatt III, of Glenwood Springs, was arrested on suspicion of criminal mischief.

Feb. 19: Marijuana ” Deputies stopped a vehicle suspected of weaving. They arrested Jose Enrique Morales, of Glenwood Springs, for a warrant for failure to appear on multiple traffic offenses in Cortez, false reporting to authorities, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Feb. 16: Pedestrian on road ” Deputies answered a call about a traffic hazard on Highway 82. They arrested Steven Michael Danforth, 53, of Glenwood Springs, on suspicion of being an intoxicated pedestrian on a roadway and obstructing a peace officer.

Feb. 22: Break-ins ” Deputies responded to a series of vehicle break-ins and a burglary of a garage on County Road 311. No suspects were immediately located, but stolen property and damage estimates totaled $9,500.


Feb. 22: High school fight ” Deputies investigated a report of an assault at Coal Ridge High School. One female juvenile was transported to the hospital for a medical check. Two other juvenile females were cited with harassment and third-degree assault.


Feb. 22: DUI ” Deputies contacted a suspected drunk driver between Silt and Rifle. They arrested Shane Brady Lucier on suspicion of DUI, careless driving, failure to provide immediate proof of insurance and displaying expired license plates.

Feb. 20: Warrant ” Deputies stopped a vehicle that appeared not to have license plates. They arrested Melissa Kay Sparkman, of Rifle, for an outstanding warrant for contempt of court.

Feb. 22: Disturbance ” Deputies responded to a disturbance in Parachute. They arrested Eddie Steve Talamantes, of Parachute, on suspicion of harassment. Herbert Louis Schroader III, of Loveland, and Shannon Louise Johnson were arrested for outstanding warrants.

Feb. 19: Dog ” Deputies answered a call about a dog acting aggressively. They cited Sherri Lee Cusick, of Parachute, with failing to license her dog, and issued her a dog-at-large warning.

Feb. 16: Dog bite ” Deputies took a report of a dog biting a dog. They presented Amanda Elaine Williams, 31, of Parachute with a vicious animal citation.
