The Glenwood Springs Police Department reminds residents that public sidewalks need to be cleared of snow and ice within 24 hours after a snowfall and that this responsibility falls on the shoulders of the adjacent property owner or lessee.
After the past few snowfalls, the police department has received complaints of sidewalks not being shoveled, so they are reminding people that it is their responsibility to clear them of ice and snow for the safety of pedestrians.
The department will also be issuing warning door hangers on properties that have not cleared the sidewalks next to and in front of their property. The next step after the warnings will be a summons issued to the person responsible for the property.
