A story about an accident near Carbondale in Tuesday’s Post Independent incorrectly identified the driver of a semitrailer. The driver of the semi was Mark Phipps, 47, of Virginia, who was cited with careless driving. Ronald Lovell, 46, of Parachute, drove a construction crane and was not cited with any violation. The Colorado State Patrol said Phipps pulled out in front of the crane Tuesday morning while trying to make a U-turn on Highway 82 and caused the accident.
Lovell was taken to Valley View Hospital with a broken leg and head lacerations. Phipps was also transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
