Council candidates invite public to informal gathering on Friday

Glenwood Springs City Council candidates are planning on an informal get-together Friday afternoon.”We realized there haven’t been very many public opportunities to meet the candidates so it seemed like a good idea to put something together,” said Russ Arensman, who’s running for an uncontested seat. “We’re just going to be there to talk with anybody who decides to drop in.”Arensman, Dave Sturges and Shelley Kaup plan to be at Summit Canyon Coffee House on Friday from about noon until 1:30 p.m. There is no agenda or plan other than to sit and chat informally with anyone who’s interested.Mayor Bruce Christensen, who’s running for another uncontested seat, will not be able to make it due to a scheduling conflict with a regular meeting with other mayors in the area. David Blazier, who’s running for the only contested seat against Dave Sturges, was invited but hadn’t indicated whether or not he will be able to attend as of mid-day Wednesday, Arensman said. Blazier couldn’t be immediately reached Wednesday.Post Independent, Glenwood Springs Colorado CO
